4 Ways to Boost Your Social Media Presence

Recent developments in social media (and crucially, its accessibility) have completely changed the way that independent artists interact with their fanbases. The methods by which musicians connect with their fans are increasingly easy to use, yet more difficult than ever to actually fully utilize to their maximum potential. Here at Twentyfour-Eight & Co., our goal is to help independent artists take the necessary steps to reach their full potential as creative individuals. In the 21st century, that means proper social media utilization. Here’s four tips for boosting your social media presence.

  1. Utilize all platforms

“Social media” is such an umbrella term because there are countless platforms on which an artist can execute any given social media strategy. Don’t limit yourself - the more networks you’re active on, the better. For musicians, the key platforms, in order of importance, are Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook. Remaining active on these platforms can lead to long-term gains in listenership.

  2. Post regularly

Just making accounts on these platforms is nowhere near enough. Artists must post regularly in order to fully take advantage of social media. You don’t necessarily need a professional photographer on staff at all times, but you should absolutely be in a state of constant contact with the fans, whether that be through personal Stories, daily posts/updates, or more. Even just a post from the studio can go a long way in generating hype.

  3. Engage with fans

As previously mentioned, your brand should always be accessible to your fans. In the early stages of an artist’s fanbase growth, you should be engaging with as many of your fans as possible. If someone supports you in the comments, thank them! No matter how small your fanbase, every engagement is an opportunity to deepen the relationship between the artist and the fans.

  4. Be authentic

Simply put, just be yourself. There are plenty of people on social media that work actively to craft elaborate facades that will ultimately make no actual impact on anyone. Real social media impact demands authenticity; be who you are, put out the content that you like, and people will appreciate that. It also goes a long way in establishing a brand separate from the plethora of other artists attempting to make their mark on social media.
