She…

She...

What/who inspired your sound

  • I discovered electronic music mostly thanks to Flume (especially the Lockjaw EP in collaboration with Chet Faker). I then took on a Sound Design course and, studying EDM history, I actually got drawn into the Dance and Synthwave genres. During the same period of time, Meduza popped put and I have to say I use them as a reference a lot, especially for the mixing part. But eventually, inspiration to me really comes from life all around.

Where are you from?

  • Iʼm from South Italy, a little town in the suburb of Naples.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

  • I would describe it as layered, I guess... playful but also a little deep. Definitely aims to be provocative, thatʼs for sure!

What is your motivation to make music/How did you get into it?

  • Surprisingly, it was the pop industry that made me realize I wanted to make music for life. I love the fact that a song or an artist or a performance can reunite in the same (physical or symbolic) place with so many different people, who would probably never choose to share anything with each other if they had the chance. Music opens new ways and possibilities that no one ever even thought existed. Itʼs all about vibrations and I love it!

Who would you most like to collaborate with

  • Oh gosh, this is so hard. Half the current scene, probably, so making a selection is really hard. For sure Tove Lo, Mahmood and Disclosure are my dream top three.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

  • If I could change anything about the industry it would be the focus. Everyone is putting all the energy towards getting “the numbers” and the money... thereʼs a lack of talent scouts who are actually interested in the projects, who look for people with things to say and not just a certain number of followers/listeners/incomes. And this leaves out a lot of artists who would probably make a change somewhere, but donʼt have the means to reach those requirements. That haunts me.

Where do you go to get creative/where is your creative space

  • Definitely my home studio. I feel able to express and try the weirdest things here, just to see if they work or not without any judgment. It is kind of my safe space.

What is your creative process like?

  • Messy! Most of the time I reach into negative feelings to trigger that passion boost that just lets things flow out. Often this process lets me look at things in a clearer and/or different way once theyʼre out, and thatʼs the power of making music.

Name of your latest/future release

  • I can tell you the EP name: “RAW”. Now itʼs up to you to follow the songs until theyʼre all out and understand why. Have fun!

Where would you say you fit into the current music landscape?

  • A the center of a Venn diagram among “Pop”, “Dance” and “Synthwave”.

Do you have any music videos for any of these songs on this project?

  • Oh yes I do! Shooting a video as an independent is so hard, but weʼre making it work and hopefully youʼll see the results soon enough!
